This is the SG-05 Siren, a Symbiotian air superiority GA. While the Raptor [link] is a GA prioritizing in GA combat, the siren prioritizes air to air combat. The underlying tail boom aids with landing and stability, splitting into two legs while landing. It has a virtual canopy allowing the pilot to be housed safely inside the aircraft while external cameras provide views to the external environment. it has two variable wings that also provide vectored thrust to enhance the Siren's maneuverability. It has 8 mounted 30mm autocannons for air to air combat, while 3 different internal weapon bays carry a range of air to air missiles, air to ground rockets, gun pods, and bombs. having a maximum speed of Mach 2 this aircraft is a formidable foe to anything that gets in its way.
The thing about that is that my own creation has a large variety of units. I've begun work on the details of personal wounds with infantry - mainly consisting of damage tables. My universe deals in slugthrowers, directed-energy weapons, and Gauss weapons (i.e. railguns/coilguns/mass drivers).
The general idea of space combat involves the use of corvettes, destroyers, frigates, and cruisers. Corvettes are like super-fighters on steroids... think massive transatmospheric craft that can enter planetary atmospheres and also engage targets in space.
Destroyers, frigates, and cruisers, meanwhile, are space-locked, and utilize both drones for close-in defense, as well as the newest weapon on the block, mecha named WHISPERs. There's four current generations, all capable of hyperspace travel.
This would definitely fill in as a combat drone in my humble opinion. But the question would be height and mass... I'm trying to limit the size of the WHISPERs and drones to something around 8-10 meters... not full Gundam size, but not as small as Heavy Gears.
this sounds like something i would totally go frakking crazy over. O.o and the funny thing is all the mecha in my universe are about 8-10 meters in height. It just seems like the most practical height of any feasible mecha.
