This is energite. It's a luminescent crystal that is found in many different colors and all of these crystals have a hint of red in their appearance.

These crystals are plentiful in the lands of Lyatnia, of Celios, and these gems are used to enhance elemtal control. Thus being used in Zygotian battle armor, for even the common soldier has the ability to bend one of the four main elements.
